Introduction to Linocutting
Please come and use my facilities in my studio at home and learn to make a 6 x 4″/10 x 15cm linocut print.
All linocutting tools, ink, papers and other materials will be provided: just bring along any photos/drawings/other pictures for inspiration.
Preparing any images so they are already 6 x 4”/10 x 15cm is a good idea so that they can easily be transferred to the lino. Linocuts are a very graphic medium and do not usually lend themselves to subtle gradients of tone, so lots of tiny details have a way of being lost in transmission. Please also be aware that what you cut away will not print and will appear white: the area left uncut is what will be printed. All will be explained on the day!
If you have any lino tools please bring them along too, and any other interesting pictures for reference will be good to look at and share.
Lino ink is messy – please wear suitable clothes and an apron is a must, though I do have some to borrow if need be.
You will be able to use my press to make your prints and take home your creations afterwards. You will be using the paper I usually use and the paper size will be about 20 x 25cm.
Tea, coffee and other drinks will be provided, but please bring along a packed lunch.
The day will start at 10am and finish at 4pm.
Price for the day £70.00, payable in advance please.
Important note before booking:
Please note my studio is upstairs – please be aware of this if you have mobility issues.
